He smiled understandingly-much more than understandingly. It was one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life. It faced—or seemed to face—the whole eternal world for an instant, and then concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your favor. It understood you just as far as you wanted to be understood, believed in you as you would like to believe in yourself, and assured you that it had precisely the impression of you that, at your best, you hoped to convey.

I got on the bus before the heaviest rains came. Folding in my umbrella I could feel droplets of water leap from its slick surface. “What a lousy day,” I said to the driver.
Who promptly responded, “At least we’re here to see it.”

I’m all sorts of distracted…

So I will post this on tumblr since I will not get chastised by everyone I know to just finish these papers and get on with my life.

I swear, I’m writing. It’s just a difficult subject, and everyone being done with exams doesn’t help me focus. I also think its a bit ridiculous to write a paper assessing my learning when I’m writing a paper of the same length that’s pretty much a position paper on the material that we learned.

Part of my tried and true writing process is bitching about the inanity of the topics. It’s been rigorously tested in high school and has gotten me through many pointless honors reflections.

Now that I have appropriately bitched, I’ll get back to writing about a subject that, really, is very fascinating, albeit depressing as hell. This class crushed all my innocent assumptions that their are people in power who didn’t step on a lot of good people to get where they are. Intentionally or not. But I shouldn’t write about that here. I’d be wasting precious words on a blog post that probably one person will read.

The dilemma:

2 papers: 6-8 pages each. I assume double spaced but I’ll probably end up 1.5 spacing them. Which means approx 300 words per page.

300  words x 6 pages = 1800 words minimum per paper

Paper #1 currently clocks in at 901 words, including notes and my title block.

Paper #2 is following behind at 425 words.

actual < allowable which in this case is actually bad. If this were structures class, I’d be rocking at 50% and 25% capacity right now. Can you tell I took a structures exam earlier today?
